Spanish street named after the Sims

When construction work started for a new neighbourhood in the city of Zaragoza in Spain, the soon-to-be inhabitants wanted something special. Instead of having the usual boring street names about historic figures or famous monuments, they wanted to have streets named after video games. Why? Because according to them videogames are ‘part of our culture in the 21st century’.

Surprisingly, the local city council actually agreed to do this, and now up to twelve streets are going to be named after games like Super Mario Bros, Prince of Persia, Tetris and, yes that’s right: The Sims.

According to the map, the ‘Calle los Sims’ isn’t going to be one of the longest streets in the new Arcosur neighbourhood, but it’s still nice that a game like this is going to be immortalized on maps, in phone books, and maybe even birth certificates…
